First report: scientific-general assembly
Wednesday morning, 23rd November 2022, Ghazni, the land of Sana’ei beheld an auspicious and magnificent program celebrating Students’ Day. This program, was organized to honor the students’ day and the students as the elite sect, thinkers, critics and pioneers of the society, to encourage and motivate the leading and active students. The dean of university, Mr. Habibi, the deputies, head of Research directorate, head of Khatam-ul-Nabiyin Institute of Health Sciences, lecturers and employees of the university and institute, employees of Ghazni Noor High School, students of the university and institute participated the assembly. It started with recitation of some verses of Holy Quran by Sayed Islam Fakuri, one of the students of Law department and continued with interesting announcement of Bismillah Fitrat and Hamidullah Mohebi, students of Economics and Medicine faculties. Furthermore, the session continued with the scholarly speeches of the dean of the University, Mr. Habibi, the head of Cultural Committee of Economics Faculty, Mr. Rezaei.
Mr. Habibi, in addition to congratulating students’ day, appreciated the presence of the students in this gathering, as well as the officials of all departments, especially the managers of the cultural department and directorate of research, who played important role in holding this meeting. He talked about the educational system in today’s universities comparing to the past, and stated that the functions of today’s universities are quantitatively and qualitatively different from the past. He evaluated these differences in terms of gender, age, class, geography, depending to the governmental institutes and in terms of the commercialization of universities’ educational services. Commercialization of higher education, change of the student-instructor relationship from discipleship to profit seeking, repetitively activities of higher education which has made it boring and document-oriented strategy of educational system, were the criticizes which were made by the dean and according to him, these factors are weakness points of higher education system in Afghanistan today. He added, a scientific educational center should be elitist, focus on institutionalizing scientific-oriented values and culture in the society. This is an intention that can’t be obtained with by commercialization of educational institutions.
Mr. Rezaei, who spoke on behalf of the cultural committee of the University, discussed about student culture and introduced hard work, good learning and understanding, freedom and liberty as the most basic concepts of student culture. He added that the students can perceive and understand the reality better by observing students’ culture. He emphasized that students are the main factors of change in society and their responsibility towards the people and the country, is twofold than others and it is their duty to fulfill this responsibility. Finally he pointed to the recovery of cultural situation in Ghazni province; according to him, it is due to cultural efforts of Khatam-ul-Nabiyin University officials. He mentioned it as an honor.
