To enhance students’ awareness of the importance of planning and goal-setting in their academic journey, an educational seminar entitled “Academic Goal-Setting” was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, organized by the University Counseling Center and the Faculty of Medicine, in Abu Raihan Hall.
The program, which received a warm welcome from the students, began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and continued with a presentation by Professor Kamaluddin Azimi, faculty member of the Faculty of Law and Political Science and Head of the Counseling Center.
The main topics addressed by Professor Azimi included:
- The necessity and importance of having clear goals during one’s academic career.
- The role of goal-setting in enhancing students’ motivation and focus.
- Introduction of the SMART model as an effective framework for setting achievable goals.
He explained the SMART model in detail, highlighting Specificity, Measurability, Achievability, Relevance, and Time-boundedness as its core features, and engaged participants in a discussion on its practical application.
At the end of the program, in order to evaluate participants’ satisfaction and collect their feedback on the content delivered, feedback forms were distributed among attendees. The results, after collection and analysis, will be taken into account in the future planning of the Counseling Center.
