Wednesday, 6th July, 2022, the faculty of economics, Khatam al-Nabiyin University, held a seminar in conference hall of the university, in presence of honorable dean of the university, Mr. Habibi, vice Chancellor and the deputies, Mr. Madaqq, Mr. Karimi and Mr. Pooya, faculty of economics director, Mr. Fahimi, head of research committee and lecturer of Economics Faculty Mr. Hashemi, Yahya Habibi, one of Afghan United Bank managers, Ghazni Section and students interested in the topics, especially students of the Faculty of Economics.
The seminar started with announcement of Noor Ahmad Etimadi, recitation of some verses from Holy Quran by Mr. Fitrat, economics students, and continued with greeting to the audiences by Mr. Fahimi; he continued the session with a preface to make clear the ground of the title. Then, Mr. Hashemi, the organizer of the scientific seminar, started to talk by raising the question “why some private banks in Afghanistan could not pay the checks of their customers and depositors in the crisis of 2021 and were broke. He went on counting the reasons of bankruptcy that non-observance of the three principles of banking (the principles of liquidity, benefit and security) is the most important factors; Lack of liquidity and the loss of trust on banks due to the change of political system and non-observance of the adequacy ratio of Capital are other factor of bankruptcy of some private banks in Afghanistan.
Yahya Habibi, bank manager, talked about the crises and pointed out facing the problem of liquidity, damaging the credit of banks and insufficient growth of electronic banking in the banking system in the last decade as important factors in this field.
The third presenter was Professor Jalil Karimi, who pointed to the consequences of the banking crisis in Afghanistan after the fall of republican government in 2021 and talked about the problem regarding political system changes.
At the end of this scientific seminar, Maulvi Qureshi, the head of the Islamic culture department of Khatam-ul-Nabiyin University, prayed for the welfare and wellbeing of the country and public.
