On Monday, 10/06/2024, a scientific-educational webinar “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)” was held in Abu Raihan Hall of Khatam-Al-Nabieen University, Ghazni branch, with a large presence of professors and students of the Faculty of Medicine.

This webinar, which was held at the initiative of the research and electronic education sub-committee of the Medical Science Encyclopedia, started with the recitation of the verses of Kalamullah Majid by Qari Payman Ahmadi and continued with the speeches of Dr. Ajmal Ataee, one of the professors of the medical faculty. In these talks, Dr. Ataee pointed out the importance of knowledge exchange and added that this will place researchers and students in a scientific environment and will increase scientific insight. He considered holding scientific-educational webinars as one of the activities that provide such valuable opportunities to students and familiarize them with scientific and academic programs.

Next, Prof. Dr. Akram Baburi, specialist in Pulmonology of Jamaica Medical Complex, USA, presented his discussions. He introduced Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as a chronic inflammatory lung disease that blocks the airways of the lungs. This disease is caused by long-term exposure to irritating gases or airborne particles, often caused by cigarette smoke. According to Dr. Babri, people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are at a higher risk of developing heart disease, lung cancer, and various other diseases, and the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often persist until the lungs are significantly damaged. If it is not done, it will not appear. They also get worse over time, especially if smoking continues.

In the other part, Dr. Babri talked about the definition of (COPD), types of (COPD), definition of COPD (GOLD 2023) and its classification, risk factors for (COPD), mortality statistics due to air pollution, physical symptoms (COPD), The clinical manifestations of COPD, factors affecting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diagnosis (COPD) and differential diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were discussed and these topics were explained in detail.

 

At the end of this webinar, Dr. Mehdi Zadeh, the head of the Faculty of Medicine, expressed his appreciation for the efforts and activities of Dr. Baburi in the fields of education and science for the youth of the country and stated that Khatam-Al-Nabieen University (PBUH) Ghazni branch provides a suitable platform for the research and training activities of specialists, doctors , students, etc. and is trying to create more opportunities to hold such useful and practical programs.
